Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July, Euroscript and StoryLab.pro invite you to spend a weekend in Warsaw, Poland’s historic capital, attending two screenwriting workshops and receiving feedback on your script ideas.
Tutors: Paul Bassett Davies and Fenella Greenfield
All workshops will be taught in English.
WRITE A SHORT FILM SCRIPT IN ONE DAY
Tutor: Fenella Greenfield
Date: Sunday, July 16th
Time: 10:00 – 16:30
Start a brand-new Short, or solve the problems of your current one, in this intensively hands-on workshop. (Please note: we’ll work on scripts up to ten minutes in length.)
The Short Film requires all the writing disciplines and film-making savvy of the feature film, with the extra challenge of conveying an entire narrative arc in a short space of time. When it succeeds, it can be stunning.
We focus on narrative storytelling rather than experimental film-making. By the end of this one-day course you’ll have improved your screenwriting skills and will have written the beat-outline of your next Short.
Great Shorts tend to have memorable characters, a strong cinematic palette and, above all, a satisfying plot.
Difficult to pull off.
Working alone, in pairs and in groups you will:
- Learn how to create an ‘intense’ world for your story
- Design strong characters that can be represented with instant visual clues
- Learn how to create simple, strong plot twists
- Do writing exercises which will teach you how to write dialogue like poetry
We’ll write and film a VERY short Short so you can see how easy it is to write, direct and edit your own work. (Here’s an example of one we devised, wrote and filmed in a break on a previous course.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLZybT5o1Lk
As Fenella’s workshops are intensively exercise-based, please come with lots of paper and pencils (laptops also welcome).JOIN THE WORKSHOP
